Do I need to have musical skills for music therapy?

No, you do not need any musical skills to attend music therapy. I will help you along the sessions. All you need are your interest in music and being yourself!

How is music therapy different from music lessons or entertainment?

Music lessons involves education aspects such as learning to play musical instruments and music theory. Music entertainment purposes on using music for relaxation and enjoyment.

Music therapy on the other hand, is an allied health profession that uses music to support people to achieve their non-musical goals e.g. social skills, communication. In music therapy, various interventions are used to address individual NDIS goals. 

What happens in a music therapy session?

Sessions structure is tailored to each client's unique goals and needs. The content may include but are not limited to:

  • Singing favourite or familiar songs

  • Exploration & playing a variety of musical instruments 

  • Songwriting & musical composition 

  • Movement-based and gross motor activities

  • Musical improvisation and creative play

The music therapist will guide and support you in a safe, engaging and meaningful environment that encourages participation and enjoyment.

Where can you travel?

I provide mobile services to a variety of suburbs, including but not limited to Chatswood, Roseville, Lindfield, Killara, Gordon, Pymble, North Ryde, Macquarie, Lane Cove and St Leonards.

Sessions can be held at your home, school, day-care or a suitable community venue.
